We started with the T3i, and although the T1i is older, it is still an okay camera to begin with. A beginner-grade camera is pretty much any DSLR camera that you can get your hands on, as long as you can control the exposure time, you can image deep sky objects! M13 is bright and is an easy target for such cameras :) Good luck!10
